NFL 2nd Round Playoff Predictions ‘08/’09

Okay so I really did quite poorly in the first round this season. I managed to go 1-4 and only predict that Nelson’s Dolphins would bite the big one. I sure hope I can do much better for this week’s games.

Saturday, January 10

Baltimore Ravens @ Tennessee Titans

The Raven defense looked good last week and the boys from Baltimore will be pumped to play what is considered a rivalry game here in Nashville. I think that the Titans will be able to “smash & dash” on the Raven line and find a way to pull one out at home. Pick: Tennessee

Arizona Cardinals @ Carolina Panthers

Where did the Cards come from? Well it doesn’t really matter because the Panthers will be sending them back there. In what I expect to be the snore-fest of the weekend, my mid-season Super Bowl pick from the NFC, Carolina, should wipe the floor field with the redbirds. Pick: Carolina

Sunday, January 11

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants

In one of the biggest surprises for me of last weekend (mad props go to Chris who spoke the truth and called me out), the Eagles made it to round two. Since I was proven so terribly wrong, and I really knew better, I will ride the Eagles train into the conference title game. This helps (only slightly) to exorcise my Giants demons and keep them from repeating. Pick: Philadelphia

San Diego Chargers @ Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers have been the better team all year. They have better players. This should be a lock for them. That, plus the roll the Chargers have been on for the last few weeks, is why their season will end. Also it would just be wrong to have two Pennsylvania teams make the conference title games. Pick: San Diego

Vince Lombardi Trophy

Okay, so I fully expect to do better in the second round. I mean, I can’t really do worse right? Cross your fingers. Please feel free to let me know where I went wrong again how much you agree with me. Also, if you can figure out a scenario where I can get the Patriots in the Super Bowl this year please share.

Recession Hits My Mailbox

In a development straight from the blog of Rex Hammock, The School Girl received this in the mail over the weekend.

It appears that our poor economy has hit the print media hard as well. I am sure that nothing is safe from our plummeting economy.

Melancholy Monday: How The Story Goes

After a four day weekend I have to go back to work. That blows. So does only picking one out of four NFL playoff games correctly. Oh well.

Here is the only decent version of this Redwalls song:

Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things again. Hopefully.
