League Championship Series Predictions ‘08

I hope that my predictions in the second round go a little bit smoother than my first round predictions. I guess they couldn’t get much worse barring me getting them all wrong. Like that could happen.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

My initial thoughts on this match-up for the National League Championship make me think that with the pitching of guys like Derek Lowe and an offense featuring Manny Ramirez that the Dodgers cannot lose. Then, however, I think about the heart and soul that the Phillies players have shown lately. With leaders like Jimmy Rollins and a dominant closer like Brad Lidge I see this series in a new light. Mostly my thoughts are that with all of these former Red Sox players (Ramirez, Nomar, Lowe) being led by a former Yankee in Joe Torre it is a no-brainer. I see this one going six games. My pick: Philadelphia

Phillies

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Boston Red Sox

Okay, so sure the Rays were the top team in the AL this season. And sure they played lights out against the White Sox but the thing is they are young. They lack playoff experience. On the other hand, Boston is the defending world champions and are loaded with experience. Plus, they are my favorite team. This series will be over quickly, let’s say in five games. My pick: Boston

Red Sox

I fully expect to be at least half right here. Am I totally off base again?
