Feel Good Friday: Good Times

For my entry this week I am sharing an amazing song from one of my favorite 80s bands INXS. Here they are jamming out to a tune from The Lost Boys soundtrack with an assist from fellow Aussie musician Jimmy Barnes. Anytime this song comes on the radio I just have to sing along. This is a serious entry into the good feelings foray.

Counting My Blessings: Week 5

And now we have arrived at the fifth section of my series in which I was challenged by blogger Blessed1 from Daily Blessings. You can read part one by clicking here, part two by clicking here and part three by clicking here and part four by clicking here.

Now it begins to get more difficult. I didn’t want to write about people for each of these things but through the first four installments I did just that. Today will be different.

One of my biggest loves as far as passing the time goes is reading. Now reading you say cannot be a blessing but oh I disagree. What has reading done for me? Let me count the ways:

1. Reading has enabled me to sharpen my imagination. Television or movies show you everything but books leave it all up to you.

2. Reading has taken me places that I would never dare go or have the opportunity to go. I have been to colonial America. I have sat with General MacArthur. I have taken the train to Hogwarts. I have even felt what it was like to be in a Nazi concentration camp.

3. Reading has allowed me to educate myself. I have never been a fan of the structured classroom learning scenario. Books have enabled me to learn more than any one person can profess at me.

A book can be a friend when you are alone, it can be your teacher and it can be a blessing. This is a great lesson taught by my mother that I can share with my family and friends.
