Let’s see now, I saw this thing at many people’s blogs: The Ride Home, Theology & Geometry, This Is LaVergne, TN, High Holy Mass Of Contradictions, and many others. So what did I do, well I stole it for myself:
Go try it out yourself over here.

I was watching the VH1 Rock Honors show tonight featuring The Who and it reminded me about how much I effing love this band. I remember when I was a kid in elementary school and I think HBO was showing a special concert of The Who like every other day. It was their Farewell Concert (we all know how that worked out) and I was just mesmerized. I am pretty sure it was the next day that I hopped on my bike and rode (without permission) all the way downtown to buy the LP that was pressed to immortalize this concert, Who’s Last. I still have that record and it is scratch free, by the way. Anyway, I just wanted to share my favorite Who song from my favorite Who album:
This afternoon with the Red Sox losing a second straight game to the rival New York Yankees I found myself utterly disgusted. My boys are wallowing in 2nd place and making my childhood nerves get rattled again. It then occurred to me that I just need to relax. I mean, what is the worst thing that could happen? They don’t make the playoffs. In the grand scheme of things this is nothing. Throughout my life they mostly did not make the playoffs, and the same goes for most of my favorite sports teams and athletes, but I have recently become like those sports fans that complain when my team doesn’t win it all every single year.
During this decade that is the 2000s I have been blessed with some really good sports moments. I searched through Wikipedia just to scratch the surface and came up with these gems:
2000 -
Tiger Woods wins US Open, British Open & PGA Championship2001-
Tiger Woods wins the Masters2002-
The New England Patriots win Super Bowl XXXVI
The University of Miami wins the NCAA Football National Championship
Tiger Woods wins the Masters and US Open2003-
Syracuse University wins the NCAA Basketball National Championship2004-
Dale Earnhardt, Jr. wins the Daytona 500
The Boston Red Sox win the World Series
The New England Patriots win Super Bowl XXXVIII2005-
The New England Patriots win Super Bowl XXXIX
Tiger Woods wins the Masters & British Open2006-
Tiger Woods wins the British Open & PGA Championship2007-
The Boston Red Sox win the World Series
The New Enlgand Patriots play in for the AFC Championship2008-
The New England Patriots play in Super Bowl XLII
Tiger Woods wins the US Open
The Boston Celtics win the NBA Championship
Now, of course, this is only a partial list. I didn’t even mention that the Nashville Predators made the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Boston College won the NCAA Hockey National Championship, UMass won the NCAA I-AA Football National Championship and I could pull many more out of the wood work if I really researched it. What I am trying to say? Well I guess that I am a pretty darned lucky sports fan, most people can’t say that.
Just for the record I root for the following teams/athletes:
Boston Red Sox
Boston Celtics
Boston Bruins
New England Patriots
Nashville Predators
Tennessee Titans
Boston College
University of Massachusetts
University of Miami-Florida
Syracuse University
Vanderbilt University
Belmont University
Tiger Woods
Dale Earnhardt, Jr
Chicago Cubs
I think that gets them all…
Well, I missed the good feelings yesterday so I am posting my feel good song today. Here is a great rock tune from the 90s, Tesla’s “What You Give“. This band rules!
Here are a few of yesterday’s players that got posting on time: Jag, Slarti, Ginger, ‘Coma, Heartbreaktown and Squirrel Queen. I know I missed a few players but you know who you are.
Have a good Saturday!
