A while back G-Man and I attended a Will Hoge concert here in Nashville. On our way out of the venue we were handed a copy each of a free CD. I have never been one to turn down something free, especially free tunes.
When I first listened to this disc I was stunned. I wish I could tell you that it was amazing. It was the complete opposite of amazing. It was pure turds and vomit. The music itself wasn’t too terrible but the vocals, yikes! I mean sure the guy can’t sing to save his life but the lyrics…oh my goodness, are they just horrendous. Here is an example:
The flesh is sizzling,
Limb muscles twitching,
Deep tissues pulling where the boiling blood anoints.
The bones are cracking,
The cracks leak marrow,
Bubbling as the firebarbs pry the joints.
Beautiful stuff, right? Man is that nasty. The artist is Rich Shapero from his album called The Ram: Wild Animus. From what I understand this is the first of 3 concept albums that go along with a book about a guy who turns into a ram. I am not making this stuff up ya’ll. Maybe it would have been better if there was at least one chorus on the album. I couldn’t find one.

As a joke I gave this CD to Uncle Grizz. I let him know that it was not good but it was so bad in fact that when was finished he should randomly pass it to someone he knows to share this monstosity of craptastic noise and tell them to do the same when they were finished. It has been about a year since I gave him the disc and it has now made its way back me. The best part for me was to see Grizz’s note that was stuck to the front, I think it says it all.
Who wants my copy. I am definitely willing to part with it…again!
This is awful. It made my ears bleed. Awful isn’t even the right word. They have to make a up a new word for as bad as this is. Oh the horror, I am bleeding from my ears.

Wow this is so funny. I got this same CD after a Jones Beach theatre concert, for free. I brought it home, played it and could not stop laughing. Since then I have showed it to a bunch of my friends and we get a huge kick out of it. I especially love how much time and energy he put into the album considering it is terrible. And by the way “the bones are cracking, the cracks leak marrow” are me and my friends favorite lyrics…haha. Jeez what is this guy thinking?!?
This is absolutely the WORST album I’ve ever heard. The lyrics are cheesy, the music is cheesy and poorly played, Rich’s voice is awful. This man should NOT make music. I am extremely open-minded to new forms of art/music. I myself am both a musician and a visual artist. When my co-workers and I opened the package and popped this album into the player, we honestly thought it was a joke, or a parody. Nope. This guy is serious… and seriously BAD. I hope, for the good of art, for the good of music, for the good of literature, and for the love of God, that this man never EVER attempts to blaspheme the human mind and soul with his ‘music’ again. He should be ashamed. I feel sorry for Rich Shapero.
