Counting My Blessings: Week 3

Today is the third part of my series in which I was challenged by blogger Blessed1 from Daily Blessings. You can read part one by clicking here and part two by clicking here.

Today we are going to count the G-Man blessing. Some people, guys I am especially talking to you, would be too embarrassed to speak about a little hetero-man-love as we like to call it. I am not.

I have known G-Man for 20 years. Oh my goodness, twenty years! Once he got over his initial annoyance of me we grew to be best of friends. Back in high school if I had something, heck anything, that I wanted to talk about and there was no one else that I could trust I knew that I could always trust him. He was the shoulder to cry on even though I am pretty sure that I never cried. This was the guy who had all of the answers and then more questions to challenge me. He was the one to keep it interesting as most friends would just sit and listen to music or watch the game we could turn all of that off and be entertained and provoked to think by each other.

G-Man is first person I think about when the wife and I want to do something. I always say, “That sounds like fun, do we want to call G and them to come along?” I know that even though we had rough times in the past as far as friends go, once we finished our growing up I realized that he would be the guy I would be hanging out with and sharing my life as my best buddy until the day one of us is taken to a better place. I also know that if I go second he would be one of the few that I would go clean his grave. That may sound morbid or disturbing but I think it is a true sign of caring. For him I am blessed.

  1. Great post. Having wonderful friends definitely makes each and every day of life worth living.

  2. Wow. I don’t know what to say. Anyone who knows Leblanc knows that he isn’t the most emotionally expressive person in the world, so I was a bit surprised to open my blog reader to find this post waiting for me. It is immeasurably appreciated, though. You are like a brother to me. We’ve been through a lot of ups and downs and came through it all better friends than ever. You expressed it so well that I don’t think there’s anything left for me to add. All I can say is….”Ditto”. I love you, too, brother!

  3. So nice to hear. It is always great to have a great friendship or an addition to your family when you and your friend share so much history. Those are to be cherished because as you get older they become more sparse. We are so blessed to have you and the School Girl to share all of our family milestones.

  4. I’m so glad you’ve got such a good friend in G-man. Good friends are hard to come by and they’re certainly blessings!
