Blessings. What does that mean me to you? To me blessings are more than just the people that are a value to your life but the little things that make you smile or make you feel a tad bit fluttery inside. Blessings can be construed as something religious or other-worldly or as something from a higher power. Those of you that are unsure of the presence of God or Allah or whatever He may be called or are sure of His lack of existence would consider them to be good luck. It really makes no difference to me what you think but I know everyone can feel lucky for one reason or another.
Today is the first of a six part weekly challenge that I have accepted from the woman I know in the blog-o-sphere as the Blessed1, writer at and owner of the blog Daily Blessings. The challenge is very interesting. I am to, for the next six consecutive Fridays, simply count my blessings. As I sat for a moment thinking of what or who I would write about I had difficulty determining what a blessing really is to me. Then it hit me. Obviously the many great people in my life are blessings but things that I enjoy and sometimes even tinier stuff could be considered a blessing.
It started to occur to me that I have been blessed in more ways than I can truly count. I have decided due to my haphazard blogging schedule to cheat a bit and write all of my six posts at once and have them automatically post on the necessary days. Once I get a theme in my old noggin I can tend to run with it better. So here goes:
The most obvious blessing to start with would be my wife, known to the blogging world as The School Girl. Sure most everyone would consider their spouse or significant other to be a blessing but failing to mention that here would be a travesty. At this point in my life I consider myself to be a pretty well grounded guy that works and plays hard and enjoys having a good time. There used to be a time; however, that this was not actually the case. Several years ago prior to my wife and I meeting I would have considered myself to be a total jerk, to say the least. I cared pretty much about me and that was it. Sure I had some friends and a job but I had a monstrous void that I would fill with the frivolities of life such as drinking. I would speak to people in a manner that would be considered less than savory, never utilizing the much needed inner-monologue. Heck, I was mean.
My wife has taught me many lessons over the years that we have been together. The most important of which was how to love and how to be loved. I have told her many times that if she had not been brought into my life, albeit slowly and somewhat late, that I may not be here today. She was able to assist me in taking the turn-off of the highway of life that had me inching ever increasingly into the fast lane. I thank God for her daily.
Be sure to go visit Daily Blessing by clicking above. You can assist me in “winning” her contest that she is running and like myself will find yourself smiling at the wonderful blessings that have been bestowed by someone living life like it should be lived.

Ahhh…Thanks! You were just as much of a God send for me.
Awww…what a sweet post. I loved this post today. Can’t wait to read you next week. I’m glad you’ve got a great woman encouraging you to be a better person. Every man needs that!
This is something I need to do more of, count blessings that is. Very sweet post.
