Sunday afternoon the wife and I were still in W’boro visiting the family. After years of hearing about this great natural phenomenon that is right down the street I decided it was time I saw it with my own eyes. So we all hopped into the car and drove maybe 2-3 miles into the heart of W’boro to The Tennessee Fitness Spa, the home of the Natural Bridge.
I have to be honest with you, I am a fan of natural rock formations and things that have a bit of history behind them and this is one place like that. I got a real kick out the awesomeness of this place.
What is that you say? It is very pretty but we can’t see why it is called a bridge? Okay, okay. Well, I was getting to that point you see. Now on our walk into this cavern type area we were scurrying along a smallish ledge. You have running water on your left, a ledge to go forward and a rock wall up your right side. Well, The School Girl was leading the way when I noticed she had passed this weird shaped black thing…holy crap! I snatched her by the arm and PULLED her backwards towards me. Why? One of Satan’s Acolytes was wiggling around.
Apparently, we were in the middle of his crosswalk. Once he passed we were able to walk further into the cave and look back.
Pretty sharp, right? So right about the time we got back to the homestead, the Heavens opened up and, I like to think, washed that darned snake away.

Wow. Really nice. I’m definitely going to have to go see this place. Minus the snake, of course.
I was sitting here thinking gosh how pretty is that until I scrolled down and saw the snake (and let out a yipe). I would have probably left dust getting out of there and forgetting about the picture, you are braver than me!
Wow!! those pictures are incredible. What a beautiful place. The snake was a bit scary though. Thanks for sharing.
I really dug this place. I wish the wife would have taken me there sooner. BTW, apparently our best guess is that this snake was a Western Copperhead Water Moccasin (I think that’s right) and they are very poisonous! Hooray.
Beautiful pics! yikes – a copperhead? gives me the shudders, it does.
The place looks fantastic, how i wish i could go there
I just hope there’ll be no snake around or else I’ll scream to death
that place is so relaxing the ambiance is perfect for a fitness vacations
