Spam Via The Postal Service?

This evening we got home like normal. I checked the mail like normal. It seemed like it was going to be a pretty status quo kind of evening of preparing dinner and getting ready for American Idol. The difference today was a little piece of mail that The School Girl received in today’s post.

The mail contained the usual stuff…bills, junk mail and advertisements. Today, though, it had something handwritten addressed to the wife. I began inspecting to see if I recognized the penmanship when I noticed it was actually addressed to her maiden name. It also did not have a return address and originated out of Santa Ana, California. We don’t know anyone from California.

Of course we were very curious to see what was inside. I figured it was some type of correspondence from a long lost friend or relative. I figured incorrectly. This is what we found inside:

Spam from the mail

What the hell? It even has a penned note to my wife with a mysterious signature of the single letter “J”. All we can figure is that it is just junk mail. I mean who anonymously mails an advertisement from a newspaper about how much healthier the Japanese people are than the American population?

I wish someone would send me something cool. Maybe a letter with clues to find a secret or some bit of treasure would be nice. Yeah, now that would be something to write about. Have any of ya’ll gotten strange mail like that before?

  1. Apparently a few people have received the ‘article’. Yahoo answers seems to be under the impression is fancy advertising. Doesn’t seem to be enough people to determine how they pick their target yet though.

  2. Yup, I used to get things like that once in a while, haven’t gotten one in several years tho. When I worked down at the Medical Center we used to get stuff like that with my boss’ name on it too.

  3. Was it mailed bulk rate? If so, it is junk mail.
