I Hate Politics

I came across a little number on CNNs website today that just made me shake my head.

The New York Times reports the circumstances surrounding McCain’s birth raise questions about his ability to become president since our founding fathers specifically said only a “natural-born citizen” can hold the highest office in the land. The idea was to prevent foreigners from becoming president.

You can read the entire post over here.

This all coming on the heels of yestreday’s story about Barack Obama and his middle name. You can read about all of that here.

Okay here it is everybody. Why in the hell can these people not just talk about their stances on the issues and in what they believe instead of throwing mud? I have to tell you I am a registered republican but I cannot see myself voting for McCain but I did vote for Huckabee on super Tuesday. I will not vote for Hillary as she scares that crap out of me and that Obama character is actually starting to grow on me. I have to be completely honest with you, I have to really dig to find out what any of them believes. Why is that? Didn’t politicians used to want to tell you their stances?

When I sent the link to the post regarding the validity of McClain’s birth to The School Girl she replied with the following:

It would be nice if we could go back to politics being about what the politicians actually stand for, and what they plan to do in office.
Nobody cares who is sleeping with who, what anyone’s middle name is, or anything else personal about the nominees. These things don’t make them bad candidates. Franklin D. Roosevelt is rumored to have had numerous affairs, but is still considered to be a great president..as was Kennedy, who also was not rumored to have been the most faithful of spouses.
The only thing that should matter is what the nominees have done in public office and what they plan to do as president.
If we never voted for people who have something negative in their life, we would never vote for anyone.
As for McCain being born outside the county, he is only disqualified if he is born on non US soil. So, even though he was born in the Panama Canal area he is still considered a born US citizen because military bases are consider US territory even if they are located in a foreign country.

‘Nuff said as far as I am concerned. I’m voting for Roosevelt for a fifth term. Who’s with me?

FDR

Notes From Work

I am sitting here at work trying to find things to keep me busy. I have a few things that I have been assigned but I am far from knowing enough to be self-sufficient. I am bordering on boredom but this is a much better job than my old customer service based technical support position. When I look down the hall at those people who are left over there I feel terrible for them.

While speaking with a fellow co-worker he pointed out to me and the rest of my team his shoes. He apparently put way too much foot powder in his socks this morning. Every time he steps large puffs of white smoky powder rises from both shoes. Hilarious. I am going to try and obtain some video later.

Another annoyance today was the use of microfiche. Okay I know how to use a fiche reading machine from back in my younger years in libraries. I do not; however, know how to print these things but I am sure someone can show me how. Lastly on this point, the filing system consists of several boxes randomly labeled:

Box 1: 05/1999
Box 2: 1999 – 2003
Box 3: 1998 – 2001
Box 4: 09/1994 – 04/2000

I was looking for stuff that would be from 1999. Which box would I search through do you think? Yeah, I have no idea either.

Lastly, this is directed to you. Yes, you little lady with the headphones in the copy room. Please for the love of all that is holy, please stop singing out loud for the rest of us to hear. I enjoy listening to music and I have been known to sing out loud from time to time and I am not ever going to be on American Idol but you ma’am sound like a cat that is having its claws ripped from its paws. Yes, it is that bad. Thank you for listening.

Singing with headphones

All of this and it isn’t even lunch yet. I can’t wait for the second part of the day.
