I am not a big fan of all of these holidays like Halloween and Valentine’s Day. My wife on the other hand is very fond of them. I think they are so blah and boring and just plain annoying. This year, not unlike lots of other years in the past, I am a bit skint for cash and have a hard time justifying to myself purchasing anything for anyone on a holiday like today.
It was discussed between the wife and I about how it just doesn’t really make sense to get each other anything. I had informed her about how flowers, which she adores to receive, are just too darn expensive. It is a scam how florists will bump up prices around this time of year, too.
Anyway, I started to feel kind of bad about it. Now, she has not once complain or seemed saddened by my decree that we aren’t doing V-Day this year. I said that maybe this weekend we can go to a movie or eat out somewhere and she was okay with this. Then the other day she began sending me links to puppies to adopt. Due to my bad feelings about the other day I told her to find one, but it had to be small and inexpensive, and we could call it a Valentine’s gift. She was giddy about this.
Yesterday the thought of her co-workers receiving flowers and her getting none was starting to eat away at me. So I perused the web looking for a decent deal on flowers. Even though I may be a little short this year I just had to do something. Well ladies and gentlemen, my heart melts knowing that my gift of flowers is out for delivery this morning. I just wish I could see her face when she is surprised with her gift of flowers. She has no clue at all and I am not ruining the surprise by posting this here as her company has blocked blogs from their systems.
I can’t wait to hear her voice over the phone all aflutter with excitement. Nothing makes me happier than to know my wonderful wife is happy. When she does read this on Saturday (or maybe I will force her to read it tonight when we get home) I just want her to see this:
Baby, you are my world. I love you dearly. I just wish I could buy you flowers everyday. You deserve them.
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.

That is so sweet! Almost as sweet as the gman and I. Kidding, kidding. Women love Valentines day. Afterall, it is a holiday pretty much for them. And you men earn big points for doing things like that for your lady and maybe even an unexpected “goodie” for yourself. ;D
Yeah, I am just too awesome! lol
