Me(me), A Name I Call Myself

Well I haven’t done a meme in a long time so since ‘Coma hit me I will comply. The problems with memes is that when I have to think of “things about myself” I tend to draw a blank or cheat and steal from other people. If I steal from you I am truly sorry. Anyway, here we go:

1. Link to the person that tagged you, and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Okay, step number one…check.

1) I am a sports nut. I will watch just about any sporting event on television. I am not just talking about football and baseball here people. I mean tennis, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball and dammit if I didn’t catch a little squash this afternoon.

2) This in no way relates to number 1, but I love to watch/keep up with/read rumors about professional wrestling. That’s right I am truly a mark for Triple H, CM Punk and Ric Flair. WHOOOOOOOO!

3) History. It is the best. I read non-fiction books about people, places & times far gone. The History Channel rules. I even get Civil War Times in the mail.

4) I have always dreamed about writing a novel. I actually started one several years ago and feel like I have a pretty good concept. I like those Hemingway-ish stories that are more a snippet of time than something with a beginning-middle-ending. My problem with my novel is…

5) I procrastinate. I can always think of something I would rather do than what I should do because a lot of the time…

6) I can be soooo very lazy. I like to just, you know, chill out. It is so much easier to pick up that remote control than do the things that I should be doing.

7) Finally, I can be such an angry/unfriendly person towards strangers. I do not trust people that I do not know and it takes awhile for me to trust those that I do know. The odd part is that I tend to share a lot about myself on my blog. I guess that is what makes this whole writing/blogging thing so cathartic.

Alrighty, step number two…check.

I have to think of seven of ya’ll that haven’t been tagged that I think may actually do this thing. How about Gary, Donnie, Rosie, Malia, CJ, Ginger and Christine.

And step number 3…check. I am going to assume that step #4 will take care of itself, maybe. Okay everyone, that is me in a nutshell…

Thanks for playing along.

LeBlancs On The Web III

Boredom has set in pretty hard and heavy today. I was home all day with not much to do and with the wife having to work and then head off to class, it will only linger on longer. What else to do than Google my surname and see what comes up, right?

Well, this afternoon I came across one that LeBlancs everywhere can be proud of, Chris LeBlanc. Chris LeBlanc is the leader of his own band and not just any band but his eponymous @ss-kicking, name-taking, southern-rock playing, down & dirty band from Louisiana. These boys are hot with a capital H! They have been invited to play with some of the greats: ZZ Top, Hank, Jr., Buddy Guy, Double Trouble, Jeff Healey, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, The Fabulous Thunderbirds…the list goes on and on.

I haven’t heard the blues played like this since SRV himself moved my soul. Yes, I invoked the name of Stevie Ray Vaughan. You seriously need to hear these guys move the Heavens with their brand of southern rock. Click here to go to his site right now, you will not be disappointed.

The Riot Has Been Quieted

I just saw this piece of music news come across the wires:

Kevin DuBrow, the lead singer of the 1980s heavy metal band Quiet Riot, has died, CNN has confirmed. He was 52.

You may read the whole story over here.

When I was a kid I used to love this band. They were one of the many that helped draw me into the world of hard rock and heavy metal. I wish there were bands like Quiet Riot still releasing music today.

From Junior High To Adult In No Time Flat

I stole from Brittney this nifty little item that tells you the reading level of your blog:

Apparently, one does not have to be a rocket scientist to read my crap. No surprise there really.

Ironically, this site says that I am not very family friendly. I never saw that coming. (He says sarcastically.) By the way, I swiped this from Blessed1. Thanks!

So does your blog require a higher education level than mine? Can kids read your stuff? Would you want them to? I personally don’t write for kids but I don’t try to be crass and rude and cater to adults; however, at the same time why should I broach topics that only an elite few can or (more importantly) would want to read? I am all about asking questions today, huh? Heh, there’s another one.

Starred Items: Part Deux

Last month I dropped links to some of my favorite posts from my feed reader. Well, now that November is about done I will drop a few more links. You guys really should read what these people have to say:

Have You Heard The New Sgt. Pepper Bootleg Tracks? – I Read The News Today

Yes I know, I star the most obscure stuff. I am an odd bird. Thanks for giving these other places some love.

Algo Tengo Que Hacer Cuando Me Aburro*

Sometimes when I get really bored I do strange things. Today for example I am home from work using a vacation day that I had to use or I would lose it. There is nothing on television. I don’t feel like reading right now or doing much of anything else for that matter.  Also, it is raining so I am feeling blah.

So what did I do? I flipped the channel to Univision and muted the sound. I cannot speak or understand most of the Spanish language so for fun I like to make up the words for the actors. It makes me giggle. Am I weird or does anyone else do this?

Univision

Hey, so I am strange. I feel that it is very creative and, for the fellas, the ladies are easy on the eyes.

Surprising Politics

The other day I came across this website that asks you all of these important questions regarding how you feel about certain political issues. Based on your answers it determines which candidates best fit your beliefs thus (I guess) determining for whom (or is it who?, I never get this one right, same with effect/affect) you should vote.

Now I have always considered myself to be pretty conservative politically and tend to lean towards the Republican side of the fence. The results of my test were pretty surprising to say the least:

1. Theoretical Ideal Candidate (100%)
2. Joseph Biden (55%)
3. Al Gore (54%)
4. Hillary Clinton (54%)
5. John Edwards (53%)
6. Barack Obama (53%)
7. Ron Paul (53%)
8. Bill Richardson (51%)
9. Christopher Dodd (49%)
10. Wesley Clark (49%)

Not much in the realm of Republicans there, huh? This just shows me a few things. One: that I am not truly as I have registered but an independent as I initially thought. Two: I really don’t like many (if any) of the candidates who are running. Three: if I was old enough (hurry up 2012) I would vore for myself so I am voting for Pops or Uncle Grizz next year.

Uncle Grizz

Is this the face of your next President? You decide.

It’s Christmas Time In The LeBlanc House

Now that Thanksgiving is over my wife can finally get to the task of decorating for Christmas. If it wasn’t for me holding her back I think she would start at the beginning of November instead of the end of it.

Little Harry and I had the arduous job of rifling through the attic and bringing down all of the boxes. Thank goodness for the pre-lit tree we bought last year. Stringing the lights really drives me nuts! Once again Fandango and Little Harry really got into the spirit and went all gung-ho in the decorating department as shown below:

The boy did help a lot and assisted in the hanging of ornaments such as this spectacular ornament seen here:

When I go visit Santa in the mall I will be asking him for another Super Bowl victory.

Seriously, I hope everyone and your families have a safe and happy Christmas season.
