Autumn In My Front Yard

This picture was just taken from my front steps. When I see this I think of one thing: raking leaves. That would be the proper thing to do anyways. I will be; however, inventing some ways to get away with the raking process.

Leaves

Any ideas would be much appreciated. The guy who invented the rake should have been shot.

An English Thanksgiving

This year Thanksgiving will be hectic as normal but will be spread out over a week. It begins next Sunday. We will be celebrating this wonderful family holiday with my in-laws here in the Boondocks. It will be nice that we will not have to travel to W’boro and get to sleep in our own beds.

The second of our three meals will be conducted at our own home, but I will get to that in a moment. The final installment of the holiday will be done in Bama with my side of the family on the weekend following Thanksgiving. I hate having to make that rediculously long trek down there but what can we do right? That means turkey twice in one week. Now don’t get me wrong I love turkey but since we will be having it at the bookends of the week The School Girl and I thought it would be interesting to try something different for our own holiday meal on that Thursday.

We both know that the English do not celebrate Thanksgiving but I thought it would be cool to make several traditional English dishes. Why? Because we are weird like that, I suppose. The wife has been doing some research and come up with what we believe will be the final menu for our meal. Let me know what you think.

Ploughman’s Soup

Cornish Pasty

Mincemeat Pie

Beef Steak Pie

Yorkshire Pudding

English Trifle

Manchester Pudding

I am pretty darned excited about it really. Unfortunately she wasn’t up for Steak & Kidney pie or Bangers & Mash and I wasn’t up for Faggots.

Bangers & Mash

If they wouldn’t have football on we may also have watched a bit of the BBC. Maybe next year we will choose another country and make this some kind of tradition or something.
