First of all I have to say that I love football. Is football more important than life? If you ask the Minnesota Vikings they may tell you that it just may be.
The Minnesota Vikings have docked wide receiver Troy Williamson one game check for missing last Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers to attend the Monday funeral of his maternal grandmother.
If and when my grandmother leaves this earth for a better place**, you can damn well count on me missing work and by God, as much as I bitch about my job, they will pay me.
“I don’t care if they would have [taken] my pay for the rest of the year, I was going home,” Williamson told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “It wouldn’t have mattered to me.”
Good for you, sir. You have my respect. It is crappy when your job, in this case a job where a grown man is paid an exhorbitant amount of cash to play a child’s game, doesn’t understand when the workplace becomes worthless. A person’s family should be more important than their job every single time.
You may read the whole story over at this place.
**By the way, if you happen to be reading this, I love you Mémère. I will call you soon.
