Draw The Curtains

Ok, it is time to write about the guy my wife calls my “man-crush”, local rocker Will Hoge. Will and his merry band of rock and rollers (Jefferson Crow, Sigurdur Birkis, Adam Fluhrer and newbie Adam Beard) will be releasing their first studio effort in almost 2 years and their first since 2003 in which they haven’t had to self-release. That means radio airplay for once.

I have only heard the studio versions of 4 of these songs but I have to tell you this is some top-notch music. If you like old-school rock, country, and R&B then you need to put your mitts on this new record. I pre-ordered mine today. If you get your copy pre-ordered, Will will autograph the darn thing and then you also get a free limited edition live CD. All of this for only $15.50 shipping included! I feel like I am stealing this stuff. Buy your copy here.

I also should mention that Will and the boys will be throwing an album release party at 3rd & Lindsley on Sunday night (October 7th) and will roll back through town on October 27th where yours truly and some other world famous people that you see on this blog on a regular basis will be rocking at the Exit/In to support this new disc.

Support your local musicians! Anyone that releases their stuff on vinyl can’t be all that bad right? Listen to his new stuff here and some other live stuff here to get the full effect.

Fantasy Football Revisited

I mentioned a few weeks back about our fantasty football league. I was very excited to note that The School Girl had joined and was playing for the very first time. This excitement is still present yet it is waning.

I must admit that she is truly doing the research on this stuff. My wife checks multiple sources online to determine what the experts are saying about obscure players, blah blah blah. Well, she was pretty disheartened to begin the season 0-2. She has since picked up her game and is currently at 2-2! I, on the other hand, am plummeting with a fervor.

For the first time in the history of the world, my wife is better than I am at a quasi-sporting competition. As a man I am embarrassed; however, as a (good?) husband I am proud as a peacock. Here is the rundown after 4 weeks of competition:

1.    Some friend of Michael TD’s
2.    G-Man
3.    Another friend of Michael TD’s
4.    Big D
5.    The School Girl
6.    Me
7.    Friend #3 of Michael TD’s
8.    Yet another friend of Michael TD’s
9.    La Hermana
10.  Michael TD

The best part of it all is the fact that our family’s “Mr. Football” is in dead last place. Hahahahahahahaha!

First Round Predictions

The Major League Baseball playoffs officially begin tomorrow. The American League is pitting my beloved Boston Red Sox against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (man I hate that team name) and the universally hated (well, not by Hutch) New York Yankee versus the Cleveland Indians.

In my expert (ok, so I am not an expert in any sense of the term) opinion, I am going with the BoSox in 4 games and the Indians in 5. I know some of you may think that the Yanks will win but I think that their late season push towards the division title may have tuckered them out, not to mention the fact that the Indians have a much better starting rotation than the geriatric Yanks.

Yankees Suck!

The National League also has some good matchups. I have no doubt that the Chicago Cubs can make it back to the NLCS and eliminate the Arizona Diamondbacks. I also think that the emotionally charged Colorado Rockies will finally end their push and get topped by the Philadelphia Phillies.

Do you disagree? Let me know. We will soon find out if I am full of hot air or not.
