Old Stuff Is Cool

The School Girl and I went to a new antique shop that has opened here in the boondocks just off of the square. They had lots of really nice stuff and were very reasonably priced considering that it was an antique shop.

Some of you may or may not know that I am a fan of reading and books in general as well as old stuff. These guys that run this new place had an entire bookshelf full of old books. I am talking books from the late 1800s and early 20th century. We picked out a few that we thought were interesting and were pleasantly surprised to be charged less than $20 bucks!

This is a printing of “Gulliver’s Travels” from 1887!

Gulliver's Travels

This was another book that dated back to 1879 with a hand written message from when it was given as a gift.

The inscription seems to read:

“Ramsey McIver

from his

affectionate Cousin

Lillie Lee.

Christmas 1879″

These other books were from the early 1900s and are in pretty good condition.

More old books

I have always believed that I live in the wrong generation and would have preferred to have grown up during the turn of the century (as I write this on my computer) and get a kick out of antique items, especially books. So any of you who want to send me any of your old (or new) books, I won’t turn you down.
